Safeguarding children policy and procedures

The desired ratio of staff to child ratio in Preschool is 1:8 – for children aged 3-5 and 1:4 for children aged 2-3.

St Agnes pre-school fulfils these criteria.  We believe that children should be supervised at all times, with staffing arrangements organised to meet the individual needs of all children. It is our responsibility to ensure that all adults looking after children, or having unsupervised access to them, are suitable to do so. All staff have  enhanced DBS disclosures.

All our members of staff are trained to a high level, with several having specialist AREAS OF INTEREST, we believe that having highly trained experience staff enhances every child’s experiences in the early years environment. A well qualified, skilled staff strongly increases the potential of any individual setting to deliver the best possible outcomes for children.

Policy Statement

Our setting will work with children, parents and the community to ensure the rights and safety of children and to give them the very best start in life.

The Children Act Regulations state that we must notify Ofsted about any allegations of serious harm or abuse against a child while the child is in our care.

The Children Act Regulations also state that we must keep a written statement of the arrangements in place for the protection of each child, including arrangements to safeguard children from abuse or neglect and the procedure to be followed in the event of allegations of abuse or neglect. These procedures form the written statement.

At our setting, we are committed to the protection of children. We believe that all children have the right to be protected from any form of abuse. Therefore, any suspicion of abuse will be promptly and appropriately responded to.

St Agnes Pre School

At St. Agnes pre-school we aim to encourage purposeful play and integrate social activities in a happy secure learning environment. Promoting healthy lifestyles.
